South Carolina’s 2020 football opponents set

The SEC has gotten a step closer to finalizing football schedules.

The South Carolina Gamecocks now know all 10 of their opponents for the 2020 football season, as the SEC league office announced the two extra conference tilts for each program.

The Gamecocks have drawn Auburn and Ole Miss out of the Western Division. The Tigers will come to Columbia, while South Carolina will travel to Oxford.

As every Gamecock fan is painfully aware, South Carolina has been especially incapable of competing against Auburn, having lost 10 of its past 12 matchups against the Tigers and having never beaten them since joining the SEC. Auburn is coming off a 9-4 season which netted a third-place finish in the SEC West and a top-15 final ranking.

On the other hand, South Carolina’s all-time series with Ole Miss is even, and the Gamecocks have won their past three games against the Rebels. Ole Miss struggled in 2019, compiling a 4-8 record and winning just two conference games.

While South Carolina’s opponents are set, the dates are not. The SEC is expected to finalize the schedules within the next couple weeks.
