<p>Carolina Stadium will be featured on television five more times in 2014 than it was in 2013. With the addition of the SEC Network this fall, it's likely that even more Gamecock baseball games will be televised in future years.</p>
<p>South Carolina's regular season gets underway on Friday when the Gamecocks begin a three-game series with Bucknell.</p>

<p>The Gamecocks appear on TV for seven regular season SEC games in 2014, a surprisingly low number.</p> <p><b><i>Note: this post was edited to acknowledge the accidental failure to include the May 10 game versus Missouri.</i></b></p>
<p>The SEC <a href="http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/NEWS/tabid/473/Article/249005/249005.aspx">released </a>its regular season conference baseball schedule on Thursday afternoon, and the Gamecocks feature in <strike>seven</strike> eight of the conference's over 70 televised contests.</p>
<p>The conference placed five teams in the pre-season <a href="http://www.garnetandblackattack.com/2014/1/30/5358924/college-baseball-usa-today-coaches-poll-top-25">top 25 poll</a>, and the fact that South Carolina only plays two of those teams (it avoids LSU and Mississippi State, and obviously does not play itself) may have led to the fact that the Gamecocks only feature <strike>seven</strike> eight times on television, as compared to LSU, who shows up 13 times on the back of its run to Omaha last season.</p>
<p>Below is a listing of the seven times South Carolina plays on television in conference. Other out-of-conference games may also end up on television; potential television for those games will be announced at a later time.</p>

<p>For comparison's sake, here's a breakdown of how often each team plays on television in SEC play this season. As you can see, for one of the league's premier programs, the Gamecocks are treated <strike>no </strike>only slightly better than a middling Alabama program, and equal to or worse <strike>worse </strike>than programs with far less recent success such as Tennessee and Ole Miss.</p>
