The four-star 2015 quarterback announced his commitment via twitter, picking South Carolina over North Carolina State and Ohio State.

Dual-threat quarterback Lorenzo Nunez of Kennesaw (Ga.) Harrison committed to South Carolina on Thursday evening, choosing the Gamecocks over Ohio State and N.C. State. Steve Spurrier and company were able to hold off a strong push from the Wolfpack after Nunez visited Raleigh, N.C. on April 26. Nunez is rated as the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback and the 219th-best overall prospect in the 2015 class according to the 247Sports Composite Index.

The Gamecocks' coaching staff had originally targeted two quarterbacks in the 2015 class: Nunez and Brandon Wimbush of Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep. After Wimbush committed to Penn State earlier this week, Nunez was the next domino to fall. South Carolina offered Nunez on March 28 and, after a visit to Columbia in April, the relationship between the signal caller and quarterback coach G.A. Mangus really seemed to flourish.

Nunez's film reveals the physical tool and athleticism coaches look for in a dual-threat quarterback. Though he's a bit raw as a passer, he really knows how to his athleticism to extend plays. At 6'3, 190, Nunez demonstrates a powerful arm and has both the playmaking ability and speed that gives nightmares to opposing defenses

When Dylan Thompson exits the program after this season, Brendan Nosovitch may be the only quarterback left that truly presents a threat as a runner. Connor Mitch, Perry Orth, and Michael Scarnecchia aren't completely immobile but are definitely more along the lines of traditional pocket passers, so the addition of Nunez will add another dimension to the quarterback position starting in 2015.

The four-star 2015 quarterback is narrowing in on a decision and is thought to have the Gamecocks out front.

South Carolina missed on its prime quarterback target in the 2014 cycle and ended up grabbing three-star signal-caller Michael Scarnecchia relatively late in the game. The 2015 cycle seems like it might not be nearly as dramatic for Steve Spurrier and company. The Gamecocks have already identified four-star prospect Lorenzo Nunez of Kennesaw (Ga.) Harrison as their top target, and the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback appears to be reciprocating USC's interest.

Nunez, the No. 199 overall prospect in the 2015 class according to the 247Sports Composite index, got an offer from South Carolina on March 28 and made an unofficial visit to Columbia, S.C. on April 12 for the Garnet And Black spring game. He visited N.C. State on the weekend of April 25 and came away feeling as thought the Wolfpack have recruited him the hardest. Ohio State is thought to be the third team in the mix for Nunez though it isn't clear if he's take for the Buckeyes at this point.

Nunez told Phil Kornblut of SportsTalk.com that the Gamecocks have a few factors working their favor:

"The offense fits me right and I like the campus and the atmosphere," said Nunez adding that he doesn't have a leader at this point among his final five but that NC State has recruited him the hardest.

As he considers his options, Nunez said there are few factors he's weighing.

"The relationship between me and the coaching staff," he said. "The school and the environment outside of school since you're not going to be there the whole time. And the students that you came with and the education."

In the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, 16 of 20 recruiting analysts have Nunez picking South Carolina.

Here are Nunez's 2013 highlights:
