The Gamecocks swept their final non-conference series of the season, winning the series finale against Charleston Southern 2-0 on Sunday. Freshman Adam Hill earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after pitching well in the Sunday game against Charleston Southern and against Wofford last Tuesday.
The Gamecocks travel to Greenville tonight to face USC Upstate. South Carolina has won the nine previous games between the two teams. The Spartans are 8-9 on the year and have had a rough couple of weeks after starting the season 7-2. Since March 4th the Spartans have only won once (against the Citadel) and have lost a midweek game to Charleston Southern in addition to being swept by Xavier and Kentucky on the weekends.

Taylor Widener, who was the Sunday starter for the first three weekend series of the year, has switched roles with freshman Adam Hill and will take the mound against the Spartans tonight. The junior righty has a 4.26 ERA with 12 strikeouts and 4 walks on the season.
The Spartans will also start a junior RHP as they send Tyler Jackson to the mound. Jackson has a 2.70 ERA with 34 strikeouts and 4 walks.
