Red Sox OF, former South Carolina star Jackie Bradley Jr. is on an absolute tear

JBJ is lighting it up.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

If you haven't been keeping tabs on former Gamecock and current Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., maybe you should start.

Not bad. Even better: his splits during that time period: .407/.460/.780. Needless to say, after starting the season .222/.271/.315 with zero homers and just four RBI in the seventeen games before the streak, he's heating up in a big way. His recent hot streak has increased his batting average to .338, fourth in the AL. As for the Red Sox? They're 25-16 and a half-game back of the Orioles for first place in the AL East.

Here's JBJ doing JBJ things, namely homering off Edison Volquez in the second inning of last night's game against the Royals (Whit Merrifield's team!).

But just how is Bradley doing it? We're not sure, but we're enjoying the ride as much as other Gamecocks fans are. Will he break Joe DiMaggio's 56-game streak? Probably not. But it's good to see a fan favorite and a former member of the Garnet and Black make good in the bigs and capturing the attention of baseball fans around the country.
