The South Carolina Gamecocks won four straight games over the span of three days in their regional to advance to Super Regionals this coming weekend. After a Friday loss to Rhode Island dropped the Gamecocks into the elimination bracket, they stayed alive with a 4-2 win over Duke on Saturday before avenging their earlier loss to the Rams in a 23-2 laugher. That was followed by a pair of wins over UNC Wilmington in the championship round - 10-1 on Sunday and 10-5 on Tuesday.
The Gamecocks now shift their attention to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who defeated Clemson in the Tigers' regional to advance to Supers. Carolina, the higher ranked team, will host the best-of-three showdown at Founders Park starting Saturday. It is the Gamecocks' fifth Super Regional appearance in the past seven seasons and their first since a 5-4 loss to top-seeded North Carolina in Game 3 of the 2013 Chapel Hill Super Regional. The Gamecocks and Cowboys are meeting for the fourth time; Oklahoma State is 3-0 all-time against Carolina, with all three wins coming in the College World Series.
