South Carolina had another frustrating weekend in a long season of frustrating weekends as they dropped their final SEC road series to Missouri. The Gamecocks are now 30-21 (12-15 SEC) and head into the last week of the regular season desperately needing wins in their final four home games. They begin that stretch of games tonight as they host the USC Upstate Spartans at Founders Park.
USC Upstate is 22-29 (5-13 Atlantic Sun) and was swept at Jacksonville last weekend. The Spartans haven’t done enough offensively this year to carry them to a winning record, but they do have a couple of hitters that the Gamecocks will need to watch out for. Most notably, they are led by Charlie Carpenter (.344/.431/.539), who has 8 home runs this season.
