The Gamecocks are 27-19 (11-13 SEC) after losing yet another SEC series last weekend, this time on the road at LSU. Once again Carolina was right there with their opponent, had a chance to win the deciding game of the series, and found a gut-wrenching way to lose. Now the Gamecocks have the toughest part of their schedule behind them, but are in danger of missing the NCAA Tournament if they have any more missteps. One positive about this season is that, with the exception of a February game against Kansas State and the UNC game, the Gamecocks have not struggled to beat their midweek opponents. Carolina will need to continue that trend as they host games on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to Missouri for an SEC road series.
Presbyterian is 24-24 (11-7 Big South) and, like the Gamecocks, they’ve played plenty of close games this season. The Blue Hose have played 20 one-run games and are 11-9 in those contests, while the Gamecocks are 6-9 in one-run games.

The pitching situation this week could be tricky for the Gamecocks. Carolina already had to account for the loss of a weekend starter due to Clarke Schmidt’s season-ending injury and now the team is down another pitcher as freshman Sawyer Bridges is out for the year as well. Bridges only pitched 11 innings this season, but being down another arm, particularly in a week with five games in six days, could test the depth of an already stretched South Carolina pitching staff.
Freshman RHP Cody Morris will start for the Gamecocks. Morris has a 3.60 ERA with 35 strikeouts and 7 walks this season. PC has not announced a starting pitcher for Tuesday night.
First pitch will be at 7 p.m. at Founders Park
