The South Carolina Gamecocks beat the Duke Blue Devils 88-81 to advance to their first Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament’s modern era. Yes, that is a thing that actually happened on Sunday night. The Gamecocks will play the Baylor Bears on Friday night at Madison Square Garden on CBS - with the legendary Verne Lundquist on the call. It’s actually South Carolina’s second trip this season to the world’s most famous arena, but this time around, much, more more will be on the line.
Of course, there was plenty of reaction on Twitter after the game. From current student-athletes to coaches, from three-time NBA champion Udonis Haslem (who played under Frank Martin in high school) to an hardcore troll job by the university’s account aimed toward USA Today, there were many tweets to choose from. Here’s just a smattering of what we saw just minutes after the win took place at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
