One of the country’s elite prospects is paring his list, and, at least for now, South Carolina can count themselves in the picture. Simi Shittu, the #8 player in the country according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, released his top 10 last night.

The programs that stand out are certainly South Carolina, Arizona, Kentucky, North Carolina, Notre Dame, UConn and Oregon. But Arizona State, New Mexico and Vanderbilt are there as well, but likely are longshots more than anything else.
Shittu played for the prestigious Monteverde Academy before transferring to Vermont Academy last year. The Gamecocks only recently offered him - Wednesday, in fact - so we’ll see how his recruiting process plays out. The guys at A Sea of Blue feel that if/when he gets an offer, though, Kentucky is likely to rise to the top of the list.
