South Carolina Football Recruiting: 2017 TE Will Register Commits to Gamecocks

The in-state product didn't take long to decide where he'd be playing college ball.

The South Carolina Gamecocks have their first recruit from the high school class of 2017, and it didn't take long for things to fall into place.

Chapin (S.C.) tight end Will Register committed to Steve Spurrier and his staff, making the short trip down Interstate 26 to play his college ball. He was offered yesterday while attending camp and committed just days after he received his initial offer from Clemson.

Register helped the Eagles to a 7-4 overall record and a 3-2 mark in region play in 2014. Their season ended with a 40-37 overtime loss to Seneca in the playoffs.

It's still very early in the game for Register, who still has his junior and senior seasons left to play and is projected to get several offers from other FBS teams looking for his services once 2017 rolls around. But the Gamecocks are hoping that this commitment sticks and that he can be a part of the plan in a couple of years.
