Some South Carolina Gamecocks recruiting tidbits for this Sunday, settling in on the state of Florida:
--Yesterday was the first day prospects were able to receive official offer letters from programs, and several recruits are showing them off on Twitter. One of those: four-star Deerfield Beach product Cavin Ridley, who got his in the mail from the South Carolina Gamecocks. The wide receiver already has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami (Fla.) and Temple.

USC's offer letter isn't as good as, say, Florida, but it still does the job. Good thing recruits don't choose schools based on how glitzy their offer letter is. (We think.)
With the Kyle Davis situation in limbo, Ridley could be a very nice addition. The way things play out with Davis (who could be very well leaning away from Carolina) will determine how big a push the staff will make for Ridley's services, who is considered by some recruiting services to be at or slightly ahead of Davis talent-wise.
--Miami (Fla.) Norland 2016 OLB Vosean Joseph was also among the recruits to receive his official offer letter yesterday. Joseph is a Florida commit, but the staff is looking to flip him.

--I had a chance to catch up with Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard linebacker Kenneth Ruff to get an update on his recruitment. Ruff, a three-star recruit (on Rivals), is thought to be a USC lean going in, and according to him, the Gamecocks remain ahead.
"South Carolina sticks out because of my relationship with Coach (Lorenzo) Ward, Coach (Kirk) Botkin and Coach (Steve) Spurrier Jr.," said Ruff.
Although Carolina is in front, Ruff still continues to keep his options open.
"I'm looking for not only a quality football program but a quality education as well," Ruff said. "I'm open as far as recruiting goes. Every school is still in the running but South Carolina really sticks out to me."
Ruff says that he is still on track for a commitment following the third week of the season. That puts a decision during or close to the week of September 6, after the team plays Hallandale.
--A couple of visitors have been in the house for the Gamecocks in recent days. Charlotte (N.C.) OL T.J. Moore stopped by late in the week ($), while Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines 2016 WR Rick Wells, a Florida commit, stopped by toward the middle of last week ($) along with Southern Durham (N.C.) big-time RB prospect Jordon Brown ($). St. Peter's Prep (N.J.) DE/DT Jayson Ademilola also came through last week as the Gamecocks are looking to the 2018 class of rising sophomores for some future players.
