With a number of recruits descending on the University of South Carolina this weekend, several are still undecided and mulling their options. A couple of others have previously committed to other programs, only to decommit for various reasons.
That's the case of Tyreic Martin. Martin was originally pledged to Mizzou; however, he would decommit following Gary Pinkel's retirement. With South Carolina being the first of his visits this month and others to follow, the three-star defensive end from Valley (Ala.) caught up with us to give us an update on where he's at right now - and told us he's very high on the SEC.
"I've always dreamed about playing big-time football," Martin told us. "The SEC is the biggest conference in college football so playing in the SEC would be great."
During his recruitment, Martin has mainly been speaking with new special teams/LB coach Coleman Hutzler. He has also had a chance to chat with Will Muschamp (who was involved in his recruitment while at Auburn), and likes the fact that the duo have not pressured him into a decision.
"They are two genuine people," Martin said. "They're not trying to sell me on things but they want the best for me. They're just two cool people."
We'll be keeping an eye on Martin and what he decides, but the Gamecocks are very much in the mix for him.
