UPDATE: Cavin Ridley has changed his mind and backed off his recruitment. Story with his tweet is here.
---
Heading into the Under Armour All-American Game, the South Carolina Gamecocks were without a commit playing in the game. That changed once four-star wide receiver Cavin Ridley out of Deerfield Beach, FL announced he'd be taking his speed and pass-catching talents to Columbia.
The 6-2, 198 pound Ridley had narrowed down his options between Alabama and South Carolina in recent days. You may have heard of his older brother Calvin, who stole the show in the second half of Alabama's CFP blowout against Michigan St. Calvin finished the semifinal game with 8 catches for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns as he caps off a record breaking freshman year for the Crimson Tide.
Once again, you can thank the new coaching staff at South Carolina for this recent commitment. Head Coach Will Muschamp and defensive co-coordinator Travaris Robinson had their eyes on the younger Cavin while at Auburn and were able to lure his attention to Columbia.
Ridley will join wide receiver commits Diondre Champaigne and Bryan Edwards as the Gamecocks continue to add some much needed talent to an empty pantry of playmaking pass catchers.
