South Carolina Gamecocks National Signing Day: T.J. Brunson Commitment Profile

Here's what to expect from the ILB from right in the Gamecocks' backyard.

Name: T.J. Brunson

Position: Inside Linebacker

Height/Weight: 6' / 220 lbs

Hometown: Columbia, SC (Richland Northeast)

Ratings: 247Sports: Three Star Rivals: Three Star ESPN: Not ranked

Strengths: One of the first stops Will Muschamp made after his introductory press conference was to see Brunson. He was primarily used as a run-stopping linebacker toward the middle of the field, and does show good awareness of where the ball's going to be. He was able to finish with 138 tackles this past season.

Weaknesses: Brunson got off to a slow star in his senior year due hip injury that held him back a little. I'd imagine the ill effect of that will be gone by the time he hits campus. His main issue may be struggling to adjust to the more shifty, speedy RBs that he didn't see while in high school.

Overall: All signs are pointing to a very good player that has a chance to make a great impact on the defense when he gets here. He'll certainly have a mentor in Skai Moore to look up to, so that can't do anything but help in his overall development as a Gamecock.
