South Carolina Gamecocks National Signing Day: Dennis "D.J." Wonnum Commitment Profile

The DE/TE from Georgia puts his signature on the line and makes it official.

Name: Dennis Wonnum

Position: Defensive End/Tight End

Height/Weight: 6'3" / 225 lbs.

Hometown: Stone Mountain, GA (Stephenson)

Rating: 247Sports: Three star Rivals: Three star ESPN: Three star

Strengths: Wonnum is versatile in that he's had experience in high school as a defensive end and a tight end, giving the staff plenty of options when he gets to Columbia. He is quick off the edge and should give that Carolina pass rush a little jolt, while his time at TE will give him a good opportunity to help some lanes up for the offense.

Weaknesses: Compared to the other ends on the roster right now, Wonnum is quite undersized (about 10 pounds lighter than the 234-pound Boosie Whitlow). If he is to contribute at this level, he is likely going to have to be redshirted to allow him to add some more weight to his frame, making him that much better of an option for several years to come.

Overall: Wonnum should add some contributions to the team in some form, although he'll need to spend some time in the weight room first and get himself up to a good weight. But he's definitely a kid with a great deal of tools in his arsenal.
