Five-star WR offered
The Gamecocks got in the mix for a big-time wide receiver yesterday. Wide receiver Joseph Lewis, a five-star recruit out of Los Angeles, was offered by South Carolina, his 27th offer.
I would like to thank the whole staff at South Carolina for the offer. @1st_andTen with the plug #HawkinsFootball pic.twitter.com/PxnuvtcjCs

It might be a longshot for the Gamecocks to get him - he looks like a strong Southern Cal lean - but it's interesting to see the program cast their nets beyond their traditional recruiting area and get on the minds of elite players, no matter where they live. (Quick note as to the last California player to be offered by the staff out of high school: Toure Boyd played his high school and JUCO ball in California, but he was recruited out of junior college a couple of years back. California products Marquis Ware and Jamardre Cobb, who both ended up at Arizona, were recruited out of high school by the previous staff in the 2014 recruiting cycle.)
...as well as a four-star one

Smith, from Louisiana, is listed by 247 as the 13th-best WR in the 2017 class and is now up to seventeen offers. It appears that Alabama has the inside edge for his services right now.
Former Ole Miss DE signee gets the call from South Carolina
Joe Anderson signed with Ole Miss out of high school with the intent of heading to JUCO first. Over a year later, is he testing the waters? Anderson is now mulling several D1 offers - and South Carolina is one of them.
It's a blessing to receive a offer from the University of South Carolina ! #SEC pic.twitter.com/u6YCWLkAky

Anderson, a defensive end, was offered by the Gamecocks out of high school but spurned them and six others to pledge to Hugh Freeze and the Rebels. After deciding to head to junior college first in hopes of improving his skillset, it appears he may not be 100% sold on Ole Miss as once thought.
Rutger Reitmaier sets visit
The Gamecocks will host Nashville product and defensive tackle Rutger Reitmaier on an unofficial visit this Sa. Reitmaier has already stopped by Tennessee and Penn State and will head to Duke on Sunday. The Vols currently are in the lead to get a commitment.
