Going after immediate help
The Gamecocks offered 2017 junior college corner Johnathan Abram, formerly of the Georgia Bulldogs, on Thursday.
#SouthCarolina offers 2017 JUCO DB Johnathan Abram (Jones JC, MS) (Started 9 games as a freshman at UGA in 2015) @AbramJohnathan #SpursUp

Abram started nine games for Georgia this past season before transferring. Abram is a smart offer by the South Carolina coaching staff simply because of his immediate on-field value should he choose to come to Columbia. It's no secret the Gamecocks need help in the secondary and adding a former SEC starter would certainly be a step in the right direction.
Elite, versatile safety offered
Also offered: Pitt commit Paris Ford. Ford recorded 43 tackles, a pair of sacks and four interceptions as a junior in 2016, but he also caught 47 passes for 818 yards and 13 touchdowns while rushing for four more. Ford is certainly a Swiss army knife type player that brings a number of skill sets to the table and will be a great benefit to whichever program he ends up latching on with.

Notes
2016 junior college defensive end Josiah Coatney, a huge target for the Gamecocks, just recently wrapped up his final recruiting visits at Florida and Alabama. South Carolina was sitting in a good spot with Coatney going into his final two recruiting stops, but now Coatney is torn about where he should attend school for the fall. The Gamecocks are still in a good position to land him, thanks in large part to the recruiting efforts of Lance Thompson, but it should come as no shock that Alabama and Florida make big strides with recruits on visits. His decision should come in early May and it is anyone's guess as to who he will choose at this point.
Next week the South Carolina coaches will hit the road for the evaluation period of the recruiting cycle. This is a chance for the staff to watch multiple players in person for the first time, so expect a flurry of offers to come rolling in this time next week.
Offers
The Gamecocks offered 2018 quarterback and current North Carolina commit James Foster on Thursday.
