South Carolina football recruiting: Gamecocks get commitment from Eric Douglas

The Charlotte offensive tackle makes it seven from the class of 2017!

The South Carolina Gamecocks grabbed their seventh commitment from the class of 2017 as Charlotte-area offensive lineman Eric Douglas pledged this morning. The 6'4", 275-pound tackle made the news official on his Twitter profile earlier today.

Douglas, who joins Jake Bentley, Summie Carlay, Dennis Daley, Stephen Guidry, Will Register and Damani Stanley as rising seniors who have committed, attends Mallard Creek High School and is ranked as a top 100 OT nationally based on 247Sports' composite rankings. He entertained offers from schools such as Cal, Clemson, Florida, Mississippi State, and West Virginia before deciding to head south of the border and take his talents to Columbia. East Carolina and Virginia Tech have also shown interest.

Douglas may not be the only player that commits today. Word has it that Tyreek Johnson, an in-state defensive end from Lakewood High in Sumter, is expected to pledge during his visit to the Gamecocks' scrimmage today with his parents. Johnson was considering committing earlier in the week, but wanted to wait until his mother and father could make the trip to Columbia with him before giving his pledge to Will Muschamp and the staff.
