Shi Smith poised to join Gamecocks

As we alluded to on Wednesday, 4-star Union County receiver Shi Smith has been a South Carolina lean for quite some time and sources began to indicate earlier this week that he was possibly looking to commit sooner rather than later. Well, according to Phil Kornblut of The State, Smith will commit to the Gamecocks today.

Obviously this would be a huge get for South Carolina. Smith is one of the top receiver prospects in the nation and would choose the Gamecocks over the likes of Alabama, Oklahoma and others. No indication yet as to when the official commitment will come today, but stay tuned here at GABA as we'll be right on top of it when it does.

South Carolina staff active in Tennessee on Thursday

The Gamecocks extended six offers on Thursday, all of which went out to players from the state of Tennessee at the Field House Camp in Nashville:

3-star 2017 linebacker Cain McWilliams of Lewisburg, his first Power Five offer.

3-star linebacker/defensive end TJ Minnifee of Lebanon, his first offer from a BCS school.

2018 defensive end Greg Emerson of Jackson, who also holds offers from Georgia and Tennessee.

2017 3-star cornerback Chris Bell of Hendersonville, who at 6'3 has incredible size and length for a corner.

2017 tackle K'Rojhn Calbert of McMinnville, who also received an offer from Florida at camp today.

2017 4-star linebacker Jacob Phillips of Nashville, one of the top 15 linebacker recruits in the nation.
