Thomas returns to Columbia
2018 5-star defensive end Xavier Thomas of Wilson, South Carolina tweeted on Thursday afternoon that he would be on campus today for Will Muschamp's camp.
Thomas and his importance to the Gamecocks' plans in 2018 and beyond have been well documented. He's one of the top recruits in the nation for the class of 2018 and grew up a South Carolina fan. He has been on visits to Columbia officially and unofficially numerous times to this point and today is yet another chance for the South Carolina staff to keep making a strong impression with him. Thomas is a must-have recruit and his continued receptiveness to the Gamecocks is a very good sign.
UNC commit to spend the weekend at South Carolina
Another recruit who tweeted out that he will be on campus for not just Friday, but for the entire weekend was 2018 3-star dual threat quarterback and North Carolina commit James Foster of Montgomery, Alabama.

Foster, who holds offers from Mississippi State, Tennessee, Missouri and Cincinnati among others, has been committed to the Tar Heels since November of 2015. Given that he is in the class of 2018, there is still a long way to go in his recruitment and you never know what could happen when a recruit spends the weekend on campus.
New offer in Florida
The Gamecocks extended an offer on Thursday to 2018 cornerback Stanley Garner of Coconut Creek, Florida.
Garner currently holds offers from Clemson, Indiana, Temple and UCF. He has tremendous size for the position, standing 6'3 and is someone to keep an eye on going forward. Looking at his offer list, Clemson and South Carolina both offered in the same day, so don't be surprised if he sees his stock shoot up with more high-profile offers soon.
TE Sheffer to visit Saturday
2018 tight end Zach Sheffer of Ponte Verda Beach, Florida reached out to Garnet and Black Attack on Twitter Thursday letting us know that he will be visiting Columbia tomorrow. Sheffer was offered by the Gamecocks back in May and holds an impressive offer sheet that includes Michigan, Tennessee, Auburn, Boston College, Virginia Tech and others.
DE commit Thompson offered by Alabama
Tyreek Johnson now has something to think about. The defensive end, who committed to the Gamecocks in April, has been offered by Alabama. Phil Kornblut reports per Johnson's high school coach that Johnson is a solid commit, however.
