After the commitments of defensive backs Damarri Mathis and Tavyn Jackson on Friday, the Gamecocks kept the additions to the secondary rolling today as 3-star cornerback Jaylin Dickerson of Southern Pines, North Carolina committed to South Carolina. Dickerson becomes the third defensive back in the Gamecocks' 2017 class and the second player from the state of North Carolina.
Dickerson ran an individual workout on Thursday afternoon for head coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson, who both came away impressed with the 6'0, 175 pounder's athleticism and ability. He chose the Gamecocks over Charlotte, Virginia and East Carolina. The Gamecocks offered him back on May 18, and it only took him a month to decide to play his college ball in Columbia.
With Dickerson's addition, the class of 2017 now sits at 16 players. As mentioned, this is the third cornerback in as many days to pledge to the South Carolina staff.
