TJ Moore sets commitment date
Long-time South Carolina target, 3-star OT TJ Moore of Mallard Creek High in Charlotte, North Carolina, announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he would be making his commitment on August 1st.
Moore was long considered a Gamecock lean, but news came out in the last few weeks that Tennessee was making a big push for his services. His final three teams are USC, UT and NC State, with the most likely destinations being either Columbia or Knoxville. The Vols just recently got a commitment from 2017 OT Riley Locklear, which could help the Gamecocks’ chances of bringing him into the fold.
Adarius Lemons visits Columbia Tuesday
2017 4-star RB and North Carolina commit Adarius Lemons was on campus to work out on Tuesday.
Lemons remains committed to the Tar Heels, but seems open to continue looking around. In fact, the South Carolina staff was told by someone close to Lemons to keep working him through the recruiting process. This could be far from over, so keep an eye on Lemons as we go forward.
New offer out in the Lowcountry
The Gamecocks became the first school to offer 2018 safety Israel Mukuamu of Berkeley High School on Tuesday.
Truly blessed to receive my 1st Offer from the University of South Carolina pic.twitter.com/8HOWCTAVoI— Israel Mukuamu (@IsraelMukuamu) July 19, 2016
Mukuamu has incredible size for a safety, standing at 6’4, and shows strong ball skills and instincts on film, especially considering he still has two years of high school ball left to play. He is only going to get better in the next two years, and with his size, don’t be surprised to see some other schools come in and offer him soon. Mukuamu will be back on campus in Columbia on Friday.
Big recruiting weekend for the Gamecocks
South Carolina has a huge recruiting weekend on the horizon which presents an enormous opportunity to get several big-name prospects on campus. The majority of the recruiting event is set to take place at the Strom Thurmond Center pool. While the complete list of names has not yet been compiled, the full list should be available before the end of the week. Several big names have confirmed attendance, however, including 4-star WR OrTre Smith, 4-star DE MJ Webb, 5-star 2018 QB Dakereon Joyner and 3-star LB Dax Hollifield. There will also be several committed recruits at the cookout, including Jay Urich, Davonne Bowen, Eric Douglas and others. This is a great chance for the Gamecocks to make headway with guys like Smith and Webb, who could be deciding where they are headed soon. Don’t be surprised to see a commitment or two produced by the event this weekend.
