One of the Gamecocks’ top recruits has set an official visit date. Sherrod Greene, who committed to South Carolina on July 24, will be on campus on Saturday. Greene is the #31 outside linebacker and the #15 player in the state of North Carolina according to 247Sports’ rankings.
He’ll be joined by Tony Gray. The Gamecocks, as expected, made the top five for the Grayson (Ga.) offensive tackle. Gray, of course, is a teammate of current Gamecocks verbal Jamyest Williams, and it’s fairly well known that Williams has been working Gray hard to join him in Columbia. Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Ole Miss make up the rest of Gray’s top five.
It will be a busy recruiting weekend on campus as six other players are set to visit officially: Concord (N.C.) OLB Hamsah Nasirildeen; Florida pledge and former Gamecocks commit T.J. Moore; Georgia-bound end Robert Beal; and a trio of uncommitted prospects in Atlanta-area OT Jordan Rhodes, Pendleton (S.C.) end Brad Johnson, and Washington, DC defensive tackle Jaylen Twyman. Carolina is in good standing with Johnson and probably stand the chance of getting him in the fold when it’s all said and done, but he will have one more official visit - to Tennessee on January 20 - and spoke very highly of his Virginia Tech visit a couple of weeks ago. Stay tuned.
Nasirildeen, East win All-American Bowl
Nasirildeen was part of the victorious East team that defeated the West 27-17 in today’s U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He finished with four tackled (two solo) - tied for the team high - and added a pass breakup.
