On Wednesday, The State newspaper reported that South Carolina would begin construction to erect a new sign on the west stands of Williams-Brice Stadium. On Thursday, Columbians began to see evidence of that very fact as they drove down Bluff Road.
Just stopped by the stadium on the way to the preview party! Quite impressive folks! Isn't it great to be a Gamecock? pic.twitter.com/iL4G7OZ8Z0— Carolina Ale House (@ColumbianaDrive) August 14, 2014

This is pretty clearly an upgrade, right? The previous sign was industrial, overly spare and, most importantly, not visible at any distance other than about-to-enter-the-stadium.
The only bummer is that this new sign overlooks Gamecock Park, which just reminds us that we spent a lot of money on a new tailgating area and the most creative thing we could come up with to name it was "Gamecock Park."
@GamecockTrey word is they are planning on covering that whole elevator shaft in new graphics.— Gamecock Productions (@GamecockVideo) August 15, 2014
