South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier says Michael Scarnecchia will come off bench on Saturday against LSU

Get ready for Scar.

Three quarterbacks have played for the South Carolina Gamecocks this season: Connor Mitch, Perry Orth and Lorenzo Nunez. Number four will make his appearance on Saturday against LSU.

During his weekly "Carolina Calls" call-in radio show, Steve Spurrier confirmed that redshirt freshman Michael Scarnecchia will play on Saturday at some point. How much time is unknown, but we will see Lorenzo Nunez off the bench as well to "run around some", per the HBC earlier today. Nunez, of course, is still nursing a bum elbow and how he's feeling will determine exactly how much time he'll see.

We obviously don't know much about Scarnecchia. We do know that he is a product of Florida, where he attended Fleming Island High School. As a senior in 2013, he recorded 28 touchdowns and threw just two interceptions as his team marched to a 10-1 mark. He was a two- or three-star prospect coming out of high school, depending on your recruiting service of choice. While no one saw him getting anything more than mop-up duty this year, if any time at all, the injury situation under center puts the team in the situation they're in right now. Perhaps he is the best QB on the roster? We'll see. (Just kidding. Maybe.)

The Gamecocks and Tigers do battle at Tiger Stadium at 3:30 on Saturday. The game, of course, was scheduled to be played at Williams-Brice Stadium, but the devastating flooding that has ravaged the Columbia area led both schools to relocate the game to Baton Rouge.
