Gerald Dixon:

RS Junior

6'2" 276 lbs.

Rock Hill, S.C.

Recruitment:

2 stars, 97th national DE, 41st overall SC player in 2011 class

College Career:

Dixon, half-brother of fellow gamecock Gerald Dixon Jr., is yet another piece in the Gamecocks' quest to hold the record for most all-time Gerald Dixons -- a record that they may already hold. Dixon sat out his freshman season in 2011 due to a tibia fracture but received a medical redshirt.

In 2012 Dixon appeared in only three games before being sidelined with a concussion, receiving a second medical redshirt.

Dixon managed to stay healthy in 2013, appearing in all 13 games, making a start. He recorded 17 tackles in the season.

Last season, Dixon was a starter of 11 games, notching 42 tackles on the season. In addition, he also had 2 sacks, which had him tied for the lead on the team.

2015 Outlook:

Dixon is listed as a starter on the defensive line heading into 2015, and while he's shown the ability to bring down ball-carriers, he'll need to be more productive in the pass-rush as a defensive end. Showing promise last season, Dixon looks to be leader on a defensive line that needs to be much, much better this season if the Gamecocks are to have any success defensively.

Trivia:

Dixon is set to start beside his half-brother. Which one of them recorded more tackles last season?
