Turned down a scholarship offer from Dartmouth; Russell was coached by former Gamecock assistant John Hunt and walked on in 2014.

College Career

Russell enrolled at South Carolina in 2013, and was a walk-on defensive back in 2014. He worked with the scout team that year.

2015 Outlook

Russell is unlikely to see a whole lot of playing time this year, but does add valuable depth at the SS position. Jordan Diggs and Chaz Elder look to be the primary guys headed into the fall; however, there's always a lot of shuffling on the defensive side of the ball, and Russell could gain some experience throughout the 2015 campaign.
