The Final Cockdown: #51, Cody Waldrop

Can the injury-plagued Gamecocks big man make 2015 his breakthrough season?

Cody Waldrop
RS-Junior, Center/Left Guard
6'2", 309 lbs.
Seffner, FL (Armwood)

Recruitment:
3 stars, 6th-ranked center in the 2012 class
Other offers: Georgia, Miami (FL), North Carolina, Tennessee

College Career:
Waldrop redshirted his freshman year, and developed his skills behind the tutelage of former USC stalwart T.J. Johnson. Injured his right foot against UNC in the 2013 season opener and played just one more game before injuring and then re-injuring his right ankle. He would return to start the final four games. Recognized as the most improved freshman on offense during the '13 spring game, Cody was slated to be the starting center for the 2014 season, but was moved to right guard following Mike Matulis' injury. He injured his right knee during the Georgia game, and played only sparsely for the remainder of the season. He underwent surgery following the season.

2015 Outlook:
Waldrop is listed as the starting left guard, however, his ability/experience could allow him to play multiple roles during the course of the season. The Gamecocks offensive front should be strong if those looking to contribute the most stay healthy throughout the season.

Trivia:

Waldrop is a criminal justice major. Doesn't 'Officer Cody Waldrop' have a heck of a ring to it?
