The redshirt freshman wideout is set to take the stage.

Shaq Davidson

RS Freshman
Wide Receiver
5' 11" / 175 lbs
Gaffney, SC (Gaffney)

Recruitment

Highly-touted consensus 4-star receiver. Ranked as the 30th-best WR in the country (#8 by 247Sports composite), and the 195th overall recruit in the c/o 2014. Offers from Auburn, Oregon, Clemson, Florida St., Georgia, and others.

College Career

After signing with the Gamecocks last spring, the coaching staff elected to redshirt him for the 2014 season.

2015 Outlook

When Shaq Davidson arrived in Columbia, the receiving corps was chock-full of emerging or proven talent. One year later, we are looking at an extremely thin group of pass catchers. Nick Jones and Damiere Byrd are gone, and the departures of Shaq Roland, K.J. Brent, and Kane Whitehurst have left big question marks behind Pharoh Cooper on the depth chart. Shamier Jeffery and Carlton Heard are the elder statesmen, but Davidson and fellow redshirt freshman Deebo Samuel, alongside 'The Tallboys', Terry Googer and transfer Matrick Belton, will have the chance to make an impact on the field immediately. Look for Davidson's role to take advantage of his lateral speed and big-play potential, as well as his versatility in the wildcat or quarterback position.

The Gamecocks may have questions at wide receiver, and they also have questions at quarterback; we're not quite sure what's in store for 2015, but we think it might turn out just fine.

Potpourri

Shaq Davidson feels like the rest of us sometimes!

Trivia

Shaquille Davidson, AKA @ace_boogie_4, has a rather interesting Twitter handle. Can you figure out who he's REALLY paying homage to? (NOT YOU, Cam Newton)
