Recruitment

3-star recruit as a high school running back; numerous offers including Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Virginia, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

College Career

As a true freshman in 2013, Smith spent time time at both tailback and cornerback. He was moved to the defense during fall camp, but injuries necessitated a return to running back during the season. He had a huge game against Coastal Carolina, logging 103 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. He finished the season with 108 yards on 14 carries.

Smith was moved back to CB the next spring, but redshirted in 2014. A broken foot suffered in fall camp caused him to miss the whole season.

2015 Outlook

Currently listed as a third team corner back, Smith looks to help deepen a maturing secondary.  Last year's group of young corner's have all returned, however, with a healthy foot and a return to form, he'll be in the mix and help shore up what should be a much stronger backfield in 2015.

Trivia

Smith moved from offense to defense in 2013. At the same time, another notable Gamecock was transitioned to the offensive side of the ball from defense. Name that guy.
