South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Kentucky Wildcats: Start time, TV coverage, how to watch online, odds, and more

Will it be revenge for the Gamecocks after a gut-wrenching loss to the Cats last year in Lexington?

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

For the second straight week, the South Carolina Gamecocks will play under the lights, and they hope that the result is the same as last time. The Gamecocks take on the Kentucky Wildcats in their home - and SEC opener - tonight at 7:30 at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

Both teams come in at 1-0 after victories over non-conference opponents. The Gamecocks took care of business against the North Carolina Tar Heels, 17-13, last Thursday in Charlotte in Connor Mitch's first career start. While he looked shaky at times, he should be a little more comfortable this evening in front of his home fans. As for the Wildcats, they avoided a loss to the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns by coming out on the right end of a 40-33 shootout at Commonwealth Stadium.

The Gamecocks will be driven by revenge in this one. They suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Cats in Lexington as they were outscored 21-7 in the final frame after leading 31-24 after three quarters of play. They're hoping that with a helping of offense, along with a (presumably) improved defense under Jon Hoke, things will be much different this time around as they head to Athens next week to play another night game.
