Which Gamecocks will be healthy enough to play against North Carolina? (Confused by the tiny heads? Click here.)
One Auguste | Expected to play, might not start |
Two Augustes | Game-time decision |
Three Augustes | Questionable |
Four Augustes | Doubtful |
Five Augustes | Out |
Jerell Adams, TE
South Carolina's starting Tight End had been sidelined for a few day's with a hamstring injury and was originally listed as 'doubtful' for the season opener. Coach Spurrier has suggested walk-on freshman Hayden Hurst or true freshman Kyle Markway would step in if Adams isn't ready to play. Luckily he was back in practice yesterday and is expected to start against UNC. We really dodged the proverbial DJ Swearinger's pit bull on that one.
Cody Waldrop, OL
Offensive lineman Cody Waldrop has been recovering form a knee injury, but returned to practice Tuesday. He's likely to be active against the Tar Heels tomorrow.
Jonathan Walton, LB
Walton, your probable starter at the WILL linebacker position on Thursday, had been sidelined with a bum back, but he returned to practice on Tuesday, indicating that he should be ready to go on Thursday.
Jerad Washington, WR
Washington, a true freshman who was taking reps with the third team, broke his leg in practice on Sunday and is likely to miss the entire season.
Shaq Davidson, WR
The redshirt freshman will have his season wiped out. He's been shut down and will undergo knee surgery to repair a torn ligament suffered in practice. He's reportedly scheduled to have surgery on the other knee in the next six weeks as well. Let's hope for a speedy recovery and some flash robot legs come spring training next year.
