The Final Cockdown: #86, Kevin “K.C.” Crosby

The Cockdown is talking TEs again.

Recruitment

Crosby was ranked the country’s 10th best tight end in his class (2014) when he committed before his senior year on June 1, 2013. The Gamecocks beat out Alabama, Clemson, Florida and Notre Dame, while a relative last-minute offer by Florida State went unheeded.

College Career

Despite the expectations, we haven’t seen a ton of Crosby on the offense. He has been involved in special teams, but with Jerell Adams gone, he’ll battle Hayden Hurst for most of the reps at tight end in 2016. Rest assured TE will play a huge role in Kurt Roper’s offense.

2016 Outlook

Basically a lot of what was hit on above. This is an important year for Crosby because we will get a chance to see what he can do in a much more defined role now that Adams has departed. While the depth chart shows him and Hurst in an "or" situation, Crosby has the ability to push ahead of the former walk-on or split sometime with the former walk-on in Roper’s offensive gameplan.
