The South Carolina football team will see another player continue his college football career outside of Columbia. Sophomore Boosie Whitlow, a product of Opelika High School in Alabama (the same school as Jake Bentley), announced on Twitter that he is transferring.

Whitlow (real first name Quandeski, but has gone by Boosie ever since his grandmother gave him the nickname at five years old) appeared in three games as a freshman in 2015, registering 14 tackles and 5.0 TFLs. He didn’t see the field at all in 2016 as JUCO transfer Marquavius Lewis, Darius English and Dante Sawyer headlined the rotation at end this past season. Whitlow was a three-star recruit in the class of 2015 and was considered the nation’s #29 weakside defensive end according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
Three players have transferred from the South Carolina football program in the past four days. On Friday, it was linebackers Sherrod Pittman and Jalen Dread that left the team and opted to transfer. The Gamecocks are far from the last program to see players depart due to lack of opportunities to get on the field; fortunately, it appears that Whitlow is leaving on the best of terms.
