Marlon Character is a Gamecock. Again.
After a recruiting process that saw him flip from South Carolina to Auburn after Steve Spurrier’s resignation, Character announced on his Twitter account that he would be transferring to the University of South Carolina. The defensive end turned DB will enroll in January and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

The Atlanta product pledged to the program in July 2015. But the team’s digression and Spurrier’s eventual departure, coupled with Auburn’s continued pursuit of him, led him to flip to the Tigers four months later. However, in May, it was announced that Character and a second Tigers player were transferring, leading to today’s events. Character had reportedly been in a very heated altercation with a teammate that may have led to his decision to leave the Plains.
South Carolina was a natural landing spot for Character due to his connections with Will Muschamp and Travaris Robinson, who were involved in getting him to Auburn while the duo was a part of Gus Malzahn's staff a couple of years ago. It’s not known if he will switch back to his natural position of defensive end or if Muschamp and the staff will utilize him as a safety, but that will be sorted well before next year.
