South Carolina WR Terry Googer leaves game with apparent head injury

Oh no.

NCAA Football: South Carolina at North Carolina State Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Texas A&M Aggies took a scary turn in the first quarter as wide receiver Terry Googer went down on the field due to what appeared to be a head injury.

The incident came on a punt return with 5:54 left in the first as Googer was tangled up with a Aggies defender. Googer’s head appeared to hit the field and the game was delayed as he lay motionless on the field and was tended to by trainers. The SEC Network broadcast team mentioned that it didn’t look like much, but it’s still a scary, scary moment for the redshirt junior. Dari Nowkhah did mention that Googer did show movement and gave a little wave shortly before he left the field on a stabilizing board.

UPDATE: South Carolina’s sports information department reported that Googer was moving all of his extremities at the hospital and would be kept for observation overnight. Great news.
