Three-Point Preview
- No rest for the weary: this is the second of three games in three days for the South Carolina Gamecocks in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown and the third of a four-game road trip. After Hawaii tomorrow, it's a six-game break before Duke comes into Colonial Life Arena a week from tomorrow for a 2pm tip on ESPN2. The Gamecocks sneaked past #16 Arizona State 60-58 last night as A'ja Wilson sank a pair of free throws with six-tenths of a second left.
- The Roadrunners are entering tonight's game with a 1-3 mark. Their only win thus far was a 90-88 overtime win over San Jose State at home. Entering this one, their big player through the first four games has been Babate Zempare, who has averaged a double-double thus far (16.8 ppg, 14.0 rpg). Behind her is Erika Williams (14.3 ppg). The Roadrunners are familiar with one of the Gamecocks' previous opponents, UCLA; the Bruins beat CSUB last year en route to the WNIT title.
- Obligatory "the weather is so much better in Hawaii than it is here" mention: there's really no such thing as "winter" over in the islands. I had a chance to take a look at the forecast for today (where it will be 1:30 locally at tipoff) and the high is 82 with partly cloudy skies. Tomorrow's high: 81 under mostly sunny skies.
