Number two vs. number nine. That will be the story when the South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team travel to Lexington, Kentucky to take on the Wildcats this evening. This will be the Gamecocks' fourth conference game and second-straight ranked matchup after beating #20 Missouri 83-58.

Three Point Preview

1. Coming into this game Kentucky has only lost one game, a 66-61 decision against Auburn in their first conference game of the season. Since then, the Wildcats have won their last two by a combined 36 points as they have improved to 13-1 on the year. Sophomore Alexis Jennings leads Kentucky as she is averaging a double-double during league play with 11.3 points per game and 11 rebounds per game.

2. South Carolina will be playing its second of three straight ranked opponents after already beating Mizzou. They return to Columbia after tonight as they prepare to host 15th Texas A&M on Sunday. In addition to Jennings, Alaina Coates has averaged ten-plus in two categories with 11.7 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game in SEC action.

3. Since Dawn Staley became head coach for South Carolina in 2008-09, the Gamecocks are 6-9 against Kentucky. However, it has improved to 4-3 in South Carolina's favor during the past three seasons, despite the Gamecocks losing the last two to the Wildcats.
