South Carolina faced their first unranked opponent in two weeks and took the opportunity to beat the Auburn Tigers for the fourth time in a row to improve to 18-0 (6-0 SEC).
The Gamecocks jumped out to a quick 8-0 start, but the Tigers came back to take a 15-13 lead by the end of the 1st quarter. The Gamecocks took the lead back halfway through the second quarter and an 18-0 run powered them to a 33-20 halftime lead. South Carolina hung onto that lead through the third and went to the 4th up 53-36. They cruised through the 4th quarter to a 74-58 win.
Alaina Coates had a double-double for the Gamecocks with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Three other Gamecocks scored double digits as well: Tiffany Mitchell had 13 points, Tina Roy had 12, and A'ja Wilson had 11.
The Gamecocks will stay on the road for their next game, taking on #10 Mississippi State in Starkville on Sunday.
