#2 South Carolina Gamecocks at #10 Texas A&M Aggies: Women's Basketball Wins 70-63

The Gamecocks beat a top ten opponent on the road to stay undefeated

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

South Carolina's game against Texas A&M two weeks ago was a close one that came down to the final minutes, but the Gamecocks pulled off the 59-58 victory. Tonight's story was a similar one as the Gamecocks entered the final few minutes up only five points and again came away victorious.

The Gamecocks took an early lead in the first quarter, but in the second quarter they went cold. A'ja Wilson was the only Carolina player that managed to score in a lackluster second quarter that left the Gamecocks trailing 25-31 at the half. Fortunately, South Carolina came out better after halftime and retook the lead in the third. Though the Aggies stayed in it and pulled back ahead a couple of times, the Gamecocks held on in the final minutes to secure another victory and improve to 21-0.

A'ja Wilson led the Gamecocks in scoring with 27 points and she grabbed 10 rebounds. Alaina Coates also had a double-double, her 11th of the season, with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tiffany Mitchell scored 20 points and Khadijah Sessions also hit double digits with 10 points.

The Gamecocks return to action at home against Kentucky on Thursday night.
