The #6 South Carolina Gamecocks travel to Savannah to take on the Savannah State Tigers. The Tigers enter the contest with a record of 2-8, currently on a seven game losing streak. Game Start: 7 p.m. at Tiger Arena in Savannah, Georgia.
Watch: Stream available on SSUathletics.com
Radio: 107.5 The Game in Columbia.
Three Point Preview:
- The Gamecocks will look to iron out any possible issues before league play begins. After the slow start against UCLA, only six points in the first quarter, expect coach Dawn Staley to have the offense going from the tip. Against UCLA, A’ja Wilson and Alaina Coates continued their dominance in the paint. The two combined for 33 points and 27 rebounds against the Bruins.
- This is the first time the two programs meet since the NCAA tournament in March of 2015. #1 seed South Carolina topped #16 seed Savannah State 81-48. The Tigers have dropped seven in a row, including two straight against “power-5” opponents. They lost at Auburn 75-46 and at Washington 87-36 last week. The two leading scorers for the Tigers are guards Lauren Moss (11.5 PPG) and Kenyata Hendrix (10.6 PPG).
- With the opposition in front of the Gamecocks, expect the whole roster to get some playing time. After the game, Carolina will have plenty of time to rest over the holidays before SEC play begins.
