In a #1 vs. #2 matchup, the South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team lost 66-54 to Connecticut. Overall, the Gamecocks couldn't keep up as they never led during the game. This was South Carolina's first loss this season, which dropped them to 22-1 and snapped a 45 game winning streak at Colonial Life Arena in the first sold out women's game in program history. UConn stayed undefeated at 23-0 with its seventh win over a ranked opponent so far this season.

South Carolina was led by Sarah Imovbiah coming off the bench with 13 points and eight rebounds on perfect 6-6 shooting. Forward A'ja Wilson also had 13 points even after missing some of the game after suffering a leg injury before returning in the second half. The other Gamecock in double-digit scoring was Tiffany Mitchell with 12 points. Alaina Coates, a double-double machine most nights, was quiet with two points and nine rebounds this evening.

For the Huskies, Breanna Stewart recorded a double-double with a game-high 25 points and 10 rebounds. Morgan Tuck and Moriah Jefferson scored 16 and 12 points, respectively. Coming off the bench, Gabby Williams had 10 rebounds with 5 points.

UConn will look to continue their undefeated season as they head to Temple for a noon tipoff this Sunday. Meanwhile, South Carolina will try and get back on track as they get back to SEC play by hosting #16 Florida at 7 PM this Thursday night.
