The Gamecocks' road to the Women's Final Four will begin in Columbia once again.

For the third straight year, the South Carolina women's basketball team will be a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Gamecocks will open at home against the Atlantic Sun's Jacksonville Dolphins at Colonial Life Arena on Friday at 7:30 as the top seed in the Sioux Falls region.

South Carolina's only loss this season was a 66-54 defeat against UConn on February 8. Since then, the Gamecocks have gone on a nine-game winning streak, their latest victory coming eight days ago in the SEC Tournament championship game against Mississippi State. The Gamecocks are not only seeking their second straight Women's Final Four appearance, but they're out for something more: a national championship. Last season ended with a emotional 66-65 semifinal defeat to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Tampa.

For Jacksonville, it is their 1st appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Dolphins earned a spot in the field of 64 by virtue of their first-ever A-Sun conference tournament championship win.

The Women's Final Four will be held this year at Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The national semifinal is set for April 3, while the championship game will be played on April 5.
