Three-star Byrnes WR Nick Jones has committed to play ball at Carolina:
The speedy wideout had offers from USC, Auburn, Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Georgia Southern.
"We're proud of Nick and his many offers," Bentley said. "He has worked hard for many years in our program and helped us when a lot of games. He is the ultimate playmaker."
Jones had 64 catches for 814 yards and 6 touchdowns as a junior. He missed the first part of this season with a knee injury, so his numbers aren't quite as good. Jones is a 4.3 sprinter who should help the Gamecocks fill their need for a fast player in the slot.
Jones is an interesting player physically. He combines blazing speed with a stocky build, meaning that he can help us both as a deep threat, a possession receiver, and a blocking receiver.
It's also worth noting that Jones is a friend and teammate of star Byrnes TB Marcus Lattimore. Lattimore, widely considered the nation's top runningback prospect, is Carolina's prize target this year, and signing Jones can only help us with him.
All in all, a great addition to the Carolina Gamecocks. Welcome aboard, Nick!
