Friday News and Notes: 'Cocks Win First against UGA and More

USC beats UGA 7-2 to open the regular season finale series against the Dawgs. The heroes for the day were Sam Dyson, who pitched a complete game and had 13 Ks, and Nick Ebert, who hit a grand slam. The win puts us in good position to win the series, take 2nd in the East, and improve our seeding for Hoover. For the Dawg view of the game, check out T. Kyle King's column.

Razorbacks Expats has a preview for the Hogs football season up. The guys think they'll take us down in Fayetteville. My gut instinct is that it won't happen, but to be truthful, both teams have a lot of question marks and will be anywhere from mediocre to pretty decent. A lot depends on how Ryan Mallet and Stephen Garcia pan out; both have the potential to play well in their situations but have yet to prove they can actually do so. I'm also curious to see how the Hogs' defense is next year. They had one of the league's worst defenses last year--to judge, consider that we scored 34 points against them while sporting the rotating QBs system--and we stole their heralded secondary coach, so they've obviously got some questions there.

A few more tidbits.
