TFP: Don't cry Daddy.

Today at 4:00 p.m. is the deadline for NFL clubs to set their 53 man rosters. Will Connor make the Browns' 53? Will he be claimed by another club? Or signed with the Browns practice squad? Take the Fan Poll below.

College Spun: Championship Hopes Are Extinguished In Columbia After South Carolina’s Blowout Loss To Texas A&M. Ignore the headline; a good piece by Dan Lyons who was at the game.
SB Nation: 3 things we learned from Texas A&M's win over South Carolina.
Rant: Defense a Major Letdown for South Carolina Gamecocks in Blowout Loss to Texas A&M.
The Daily Gamecock: Gameday notebook: Texas A&M.
Fox Sports: This is what happens when the favorite gets routed in prime time by a better team - Aggies go wild in locker room after Gamecocks win. Watch it. I hope our team has. Forget scheme; if the Cocks don't play with a lot more heart, they will be watching the ECU Pirates doing the same thing in a week.
Sportstalksc: Meanwhile in our locker room USC deals with embarrassing loss - postgame audio clips with Dylan Thompson, Nick Jones, Skai Moore, Al Harris, Jr. and Brison Williams, and a bonus clip from Kenny Hill.
Garnet & Cocky: Dylan Thompson OK, not great in Gamecocks' loss.
Saturday Down South: Post-mortem: Ward shoulders blame for Gamecocks’ nightmarish outing.
Gamecock Central: Back to Square 1 for Ward, Defense? and What you may have missed. Lot of free content today. I wonder why?
Bleacher Report: Bright Spots from South Carolina's Devastating Week 1 Loss - a legit essay; not a slideshow.
Get The Picture: Last Night in the SEC. Reflecting on the egg laid by USC, the Senator is justified feeling that "[f]or Georgia partisans, it’s hard to see the result as anything but good news on a number of levels."
Andy Staples: No Johnny? No problem: Texas A&M throttles South Carolina in opener. Is it better to get humiliated by a kid who's now - at least this week - the leading candidate for SEC Freshman of the Year? Or by a system that we didn't understand and couldn't stop? What if the answer is both? The frightening thing to contemplate is that JFF wasn't running Sumlin's O the way it was supposed to work. The Aggies will next feast on Lamar and Rice at Kyle Field, before heading to Big D to play SMU and Arkansas back-to-back weekends (Jerry has thoughtfully opened up the doors to AT&T Stadium for the Arkie game so the Aggies can watch Kenny Hill & Crew on the big screens; the Ags will have to slum it at Gerald Ford, Jr. Stadium for the Ponies).
NBC CFT: Kevin Sumlin looks like he’s worth the money for Texas A&M. Well at A&M, there is always plenty more where that came from.
Gamecock Cereal: Gifs: Things That Went Right.
Gamecocksonline: Turner's Strike Before Midnight Gives SC a 1-0 Win in Opener vs. Belmont in men's soccer - we host the hated Tigers on Tuesday at Stone Stadium. If you didn't know, the women's team is 3-0, nationally ranked and just cinched a 2OT Victory Over No. 22 Boston University. Congrats to both squads.
J.C. Shurburtt: SEC Quick Takes. Poise.
WLTX: How the Gamecocks Band Prepares for the Season.
CBS Sports: Think USC has issues? Well, the problems for the USCw are not going away ... and getting worse by the minute. Not a lot of good news for their pals in South Bend, either. Not to worry Domers. Now that you're (for the most part) in the ACC, all your academic scandals get whitewashed.
247: Waiting Game Starts For Shaw. No one is picking him to make the Browns' 53 man roster. Now the question is whether he will be claimed off waivers. Because Manziel and Hoyer could never separate from one another (and I don't know whether that is a compliment or a question mark for either), they were both playing extended reps in the last preseason game. Connor only got a few possessions in the waning minutes, so he never had a chance to compete with Grossman.
Back on August 5, @RichardWade of SBN's Bolts from the Blue posted NFL calendar 2014: When are roster cuts, other important dates?
He writes that today "Prior to 4:00 p.m. E.T., clubs must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the active/inactive List." Tomorrow (8.31.14) - "Beginning at 12:00 noon, New York time, clubs may establish a practice squad of eight players by signing free agents who do not have an accrued season of free agency credit or who were on the 46-player active list for less than nine regular season games during each of any accrued seasons. A player cannot serve on the practice squad for more than three seasons."
