Tom Herman says he's "agreed in principle" to remain at Houston

36

Herman, who is 11-1 at Houston thus far with the American Athletic Conference title game and a bowl remaining on the schedule, had a minimum offer of $3 million on the table. While he was the presumptive front-runner for the South Carolina job, he reportedly withdrew himself from consideration last week, but was being mentioned for such jobs as Georgia as recently as yesterday following Mark Richt's firing. (Herman staying in Houston is barring any breakdown in negotiations, of course.)

With another top candidate, former Memphis head man Justin Fuente, now at Virginia Tech as Frank Beamer's successor, it appears the focus will now be on Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.
