South Carolina vs. Florida: Week 8 Injury Report

QB1 is ready to roll.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The South Carolina Gamecocks will look to follow one successful upset bid with another, as they welcome the Florida Gators to Columbia on a State Fair weekend tomorrow. South Carolina is in overall pretty good shape for mid-October, but questions about its quarterback once again loom large. Let’s take a look at the Akeem Auguste injury report.

Zero Augustes - Full go!

One Augustes - Should play, but won’t start

Two Augustes - Game-time decision

Three Augustes - Questionable

Four Augustes - Unlikely

Five Augustes - Out

Ryan Hilinski — Zero Augustes

According to coach Will Muschamp, the freshman quarterback has been back at practice and is ready to start on Saturday. Hilinski took a shot to the knee against Georgia that knocked him out of the game, and South Carolina fans everywhere feared the worst when he had to be helped off the field and was then seen hobbling around on the sideline with ice on his leg. But things are apparently not as dire as they looked, and he’s full go for the Gators. It’s not an exaggeration to say this game — and season — likely depends on his health.

Dylan Wonnum — Five Augustes

The sophomore right tackle missed action against Kentucky and Georgia with an ankle injury and will continue to sit out against Florida. Muschamp indicated it would likely be another couple weeks before he’s back in the lineup.

Kier Thomas — Five Augustes

Thomas has long been on the shelf with an infection he suffered after an offseason ankle surgery, but according to Muschamp, the team will start working him into practice as early as next week.
