It didn’t take long for Monroe Community College (JUCO) forward Ran Tut to make his decision after receiving an offer today from South Carolina. Tut, who also had Wisconsin-Milwaukee on his list, pledged to the Gamecocks just hours after Frank Martin offered the 6’9”, 210 pounder. He will be eligible to play immediately.
Tut was born in Sudan but was raised in Melbourne, Australia, and enrolled at Monroe CC after playing for Victory Rock Prep in Florida. In 30 games in 2014-15, he recorded 8.0 points and 5.1 rebounds a game while shooting 45% from the field (31.9% from three point range). His best games were a pair of 19-point outings against Hagerstown and Harcum. Despite appearing in just 15 games last season, he notched 10.4 points and 5.9 boards an outing, including a 46% mark from the floor (34.6% from deep) and a career-high 22 points against Harcum in 29 minutes.
Tut was expected to sign last Friday, with an offer pending his acceptance to the university. When he was indeed accepted, Martin issued an official offer, which ultimately led to Tut’s commitment. He should officially sign in a matter of days.
The class of 2020 now sits at six: incoming freshmen Rakym Felder, Khadim Gueye, Sedee Keita and Maik Kotsar have signed their NLIs. The Gamecocks also gained the services of another JUCO transfer, Hassani Gravett, who joins the team from Pensacola State College.
